A common issue for HoverflyGIMBAL users is not getting the full range of movement from their servos on a particular axis. If you're certain that you have 180-degree servos, but you're only getting 90 degrees of movement, check the following settings:
First, make sure that the Minimum and Maximum Pulse Width are set to 1.0 and 2.0, respectively. This will ensure that the servo receives signal out to its full range of movement.
There is also a setting for each channel that can be used to limit movement in a particular mode. Under Configuration & Calibration > Receiver Configuration, you will see that each Channel has a "Current Angle" setting and an "Offset Speed" setting, each of which is accompanied by a "Set Range" button. Under the settings for the desired channel, do the following:
To set the movement characteristics for Angle Position Mode (Mode 1 on your Mode Switch):
1. Click "Set Range" for Current Angle. This will open a pop-up window.
2. Set the Max Deflection. This setting is the maximum degrees that the servo is allowed to turn from center. So a setting of 45 here will prevent the servo from moving more than 45 degrees from the center-point - allowing you a total of 90 degrees of movement (45 in one direction and 45 in the other).
3. If you wish to limit the speed, check the box for "Limit Angle Movement Speed," then enter a value for "Max Angle Update Rate." This setting is in "degrees of movement per second." So a setting of 90 here will allow the servo to move a quarter-turn every second.
To set the movement characteristics for Angle Velocity Mode (Mode 2 on your Mode Switch):
1. Click "Set Range" for Offset Speed. This will open a pop-up window.
2. Set the Max Offset Speed to your desired speed. Like the Max Angle Update Rate, this setting is also in "degrees of movement per second."
3. Set the Max Offset. Like Max Deflection, this setting is the maximum degrees that the servo is allowed to turn from center.
